NoFollow and DoFollow links are used for instructing search engines as to whether a hyperlink should influence the target link’s ranking in the search engine indexing algorithm or not. From SEO and page rank perspective, if you have dofollow back links from high page rank sites, then it automatically increases your credibility in the eyes of the search engine and vice versa. We had talked about these links in context of anchor text earlier as well.
Considering the importance of these links, it will be very useful if there is a way to determine the Dofollow and NoFollow links on any webpage instantly. Once you have this information, you can use it to your advantage. If you are a webmaster, you might also be interested in previewing about the link status on any web page of your website. One tool that comes to your aid in such cases is the NoDofollow firefox extension.
Being a firefox extension, this comes as an absolutely free tool to use. Just install it in your firefox browser( you will need to restart the browser to complete the installation ). Once the installation is done, all you need to do to figure out the NoFollow and DoFollow links on any webpage is to right click and choose the <NoDoFollow> option in the pop-up. Choosing this option would highlight all the hyperlinks seen on the web page. The DoFollow hyperlinks shall be highlighted in BLUE while the NoFollow links would be shown in RED. So with a single click you would be able to easily figure out the hyperlink status of any web page.
As an example, the following snapshot indicates the result when run on front page of TechCrunch. The snapshot shows the post preview as it appeared on the front page with the BLUE and RED highlighting of the hyperlinks as mentioned above.
