The latest ad by Chevrolet Cruze promotes the product as an enthusiastic car for the youth. Chevrolet is betting heavily on this new model apart from the recently launched Beat to cement it’s position in the Indian Market. The reason I am writing about the Cruze Ad is because of the treatment given to it which is worth a mention.
If you recollect the time when Cruze was launched, there was a 7-8 second promotional ad of the same, which showed Cruze suddenly emerging from a background and vanishing from your vision just as fast – highlighting the power, speed and agility of the vehicle. Of course it said “Choose To Cruze”. The new ad also presents the same message albeit in a different manner
The sequence of the as is as follows
- Four young guys visit the Chevrolet showroom to checkout the Cruze.
- Within a few seconds of looking at the car, they make up their mind to buy it.
- The payment is made on the spot and the gang drives the car out on the road
- They stop at the red light where a Ford Endeavour is already waiting for the signal.
- The Punjabi occupants of the Endeavour lower their windows looking pretty impressed with the side profile of Cruze.
- The signal turns green and while the Endeavour moves off, guys in the Cruze moves off only when the signal is again about to turn to red.
- The Cruze soon catches up with the Endeavour again, overtaking it easily.
- The occupants of Endeavaur realize that they would not be able to match up with Cruze‘s cruising abilities.
- On the next signal, while Cruze being ahead crosses in nick of time – the Endeavour has to stop at the signal as it turns red ( I must say they are law abiding citizens )
- A punchy punjabi track plays in the background saying “Gabru Del Naal Ajj Bair Pai Gayaa” which means “I had a small altercation with youths from Punjab

The concept of the ad might not be new, but it highlights two important aspects of the product
- It strikes a chord with the potential customer ( The decision to buy the car is made within a seconds of seeing it in flesh )
- It’s power and cruising abilities can even put best to the rest.

Chevvy Optra was also a good sturdy car, though it was actually a Daewoo car. Any clue if Cruze is really a Chevvy car or borrowed from any of their acquisitions?

out in the global markets.This car truly looks and feels world-class. It’s interiors are really huge in its class. And looks like Toyota and Honda and other contemporaries of the same class will be in for a surprise!
